Maybe the most spectacular square in Rome, Piazza Navona is dominated by the Borromini dome, in front of which stands the amazing Fountain of the Rivers by Bernini. If you look at the statue that represents the river Nile; you will see that the figure raises his hand in front of his eyes to cover them from the view of Borromini’s dome, which was considered ugly by Bernini. This rumor has never been proven to be true; however if you ask a Roman, they will surely confirm the story.
